A coalition of Catholic Sisters and allies for gun violence prevention
As Catholics, our faith calls us to nonviolence, and our hearts are broken by the constant gun violence in the United States. In response to the gun violence epidemic, we invite you to join in our third annual Lenten Fast to End Gun Violence. Once again, we will offer our fast as a prayer to God and an opportunity to publicly appeal to our civic communities for action to reduce gun violence.
Our mission
Nuns Against Gun Violence is a coalition of Catholic Sisters and their allies that affirms the value of human life through prayer, education, and advocacy for common sense, evidence-based gun violence prevention.
What we do
We take a three-pronged approach to addressing gun violence
Prayer
Join us for monthly prayer and prayer vigils honoring those who have been lost to gun violence. We seek the courage to be instruments of peace and healing in a world that desperately needs both.
Education
Understanding is the first step toward change. We provide resources and learning opportunities to deepen awareness of the realities of gun violence and evidence-based violence prevention strategies.
Advocacy
Our faith compels us to act. Join us by participating in initiatives and partnerships aimed at influencing evidence-based legislation that will reduce gun violence and support affected communities.
Who we are
Nuns Against Gun Violence was founded in April 2023 when a group of justice and peace promoters recognized the need to collaborate on this pressing issue. They created this organization to bring together congregations of Catholic sisters to speak with a united voice against the crisis of gun violence. We now have supporters from coast to coast.
